My work has pretty much said that for the last year or so. Theyre treating it like a flu, now. Not great, IMO.

State inspectors denied entry to privately-run immigration detention center in Tacoma ( washingtonstatestandard.com )

Washington state health and workplace inspectors have repeatedly been denied entry to a for-profit federal immigration detention center in Tacoma, where detainees have filed hundreds of complaints over issues like neglected hygiene, poor food and inadequate medical care....

Gov. Abbott is now putting barriers along Texas border with New Mexico ( news.yahoo.com )

Isn’t this against the US constitution? Razor wire along the state border and checkpoints on roads that cross the state border are kind of nuts. I read a comment joking that the wire and road checkpoints were to keep Texan women from escaping to New Mexico, which got a bitter laugh out of me.

No expansion tank?

Guessing its a hybrid unit? I have a hybrid one by GE. Goddamn its loud.

Don’t forget to turn up the water temperature. Mine also was set to 120 by default, but that’s too cold. You need 135-140 or so, otherwise you’ll find that you run out of hot water pretty quickly, especially if you have people taking showers back to back, or running the dishwasher/washer while someones showering, etc.

Anyone else have trouble with these GE dishwashing machines?

Mine cleans dishes well enough, but the gaskets leak easier than any other dishwasher I've ever had. I replaced the gaskets a few months ago, but if a little bit of debris builds up then it's leaking again. Also, the racks are badly corroded, but the machine is only maybe five years old. Anyway, it's just kind of funny that my aunt is coming over tomorrow and the last time she was here she noticed the dishwasher was leaking.

Ive heard a lot of negativity with regards to GE appliances in general. Specifically their washing machines.

Toilet repairability

Our old cheap toilet you can’t get parts for anymore (dual flush). I remember my dad fixing old singl-flush toilets with just standard parts from the hardware store. But these new dual-flush toilets are super proprietary. Are single-flush toilets more standardized to where I would be able to easily find parts? I am thinking...

altima_neo ,
@altima_neo@lemmy.zip avatar

I believe as long as you buy an American made toilet (assuming youre in America), then yes, they tend to use standard parts that are easy to pick up at the hardware store.
