Fediverse

I proactively blocked the box of c*nts, aka Facebook's new Threads domain, on the user level. It's not easy, but here is a link showing how to do it. https://medium.com/@geofbard/how-to-block-server-domains-in-mastodon-899b24f8fb6e

We'll see if it works once they add Activity Pub integration.

And I blocked them because they are a box of c*unts. And I'll leave it up to instances to do whatever they want with Threads.

Just found out that the Mastodon instance that my favorite artist uses (AFAIK*) defederated Kbin/Lemmy instance that I'm currently using. As a result, I think I can't follow this artist. I kinda understand that defederation is important, but... the problem is I don't think the instances I am using did anything wrong. But then again, even the line of what's considered "doing anything wrong" is really subjective, depends on who you asked.

Also, I now understand even more about the drama few days ago about beehaw

*I saw the server list on the Mastodon instance about page, and it listed as "Suspended", I wonder what this means

Jerry ,

@stackPeek You are currently on kbin.social so I assume kbin.social has been suspended (a.k.a. de-federated or blocked) from that server. On Mastodon, "Suspended" means totally blocked. You cannot follow anyone, they cannot follow you. All communication, including API requests, are blocked.

A Mastodon instance blocking kbin.social, is, to me, irrational behavior by the Admin and an extreme disservice to those on the server.

Can you share the name of the Mastodon instance?

WOW. That's really really bad. And I doubt it's going to be easy convincing artists to move to other instances.

Can you share the name of the Mastodon instance?

mastodon[dot]art

Based on the "Moderated Servers" section, it looks like their reasoning is "Not moderating far right content"

This is insane, because I literally never seen any remotely negative post in kbin.social, let alone far-right content

How come more people are searching "mastodon" this week?

Lenny is showing them how well a fediverse can work, so they want to try more social media based on it. Also twitter is a tire fire right now.

Twitter rate limiting and broader fediverse awareness.
