People need to stop acting like the FBI are better than any other cops or acting “surprised” that it took them this long to take this seriously. This is par for the course with the FBI.

They’re doing this begrudgingly. They didn’t want to stop January 6th, because you’ve got a lot of Trump sympathizers in the Bureau, but after the fact, they needed to “prove” themselves since they obviously fucked up massively by ignoring a coup attempt that was so brazen, so not hidden, so out in the open that motherfuckers printed up t-shirts for the event.

Stop acting like this is anything but covering up for a right wing organization with a history of abusing left wing movements while letting right wing movements thrive. This is the same FBI that wrote letters to MLK Jr telling him he should commit suicide. This is the same FBI that railroaded Bruce Ivins over Anthrax in the Bush years (literally Robert Mueller) only for it later to be proven that it was impossible for Ivins to have produced Anthrax that pure. This is the same FBI that has made it a mission since the Bush years to find troubled, mentally-ill US citizens, put guns or bombs in their hands and push them to commit violence, only to swoop in at the last second, stop the violence, and then claim “We’re stopping terrorism!” It’s such a commonly known thing they do, comedy movies have been made about the subject.

In other words, the FBI is responsible for creating homegrown terrorists as a business model for funding for the last 20 years. Do we really believe that they’re so concerned about the MAGA threat after they completely ignored it during the Trump years?

This is PR bullshit. This is to cover for the fact that at the end of the day, the FBI are cops and what do we say about cops, kids?

    All Cops Are Bastards.

I think it's a mistake to view the modern FBI as a coherent will. Under the abuses of Hoover, sure, but today's FBI was more than willing to investigate the Trump campaign (silently, as it should be) while the NY field office openly interfered with Hillary Clinton's campaign.

    Auzy ,

I can’t speak for US, but here in Melbourne Australia, our cops are legends, so I definitely wouldn’t say all.

But even in US, I’m sure there are a lot of good cops too

The problem in the US is that they don’t do nearly enough to stop bad cops or make them face punishment.

If you’re a so called “good” cop but you can’t stop your compatriots from organizing internal gangs and breaking the law with impunity and hiding behind the benefits of the badge (qualified immunity, civil forfeiture, etc), you have become a bad cop.

They always claim it’s “a couple of bad apples” while ignoring the whole phrase is “a couple of bad apples spoil the bunch.

You don’t get to claim being a good cop if you work with bad cops and aren’t doing everything you can to get them punished to the fullest extent of the law.

Yes, that’s even if it’s because you knew there would be violent retaliation up to and including being murdered by your fellow cops (that has happened recently in California). You can either walk away with the evidence you have and give it to the public, or you can sit on it for your own safety.

I mean seriously, if there’s cops willing to fuck up your life because you’re a good cop, the entire system is already off the fucking rails, my man.

Now, we must all fear evil men. But there is another kind of evil which we must fear most, and that is the indifference of good men.
