US judge blocks Georgia ban on treatment for transgender youth ( www.reuters.com )

A U.S. judge has blocked the state of Georgia from enforcing a new Republican-backed law that bars doctors from providing hormone replacement therapy to treat gender dysphoria in transgender children under age 18.

U.S. District Judge Sarah Geraghty in Atlanta issued an injunction on Sunday after finding that a group of parents and transgender minors who challenged the law would likely succeed in establishing that the prohibition on hormone replacement therapy violated a provision of the U.S. Constitution.

The ruling marked the latest instance of a federal judge blocking a law banning medical procedures for transgender youth. Republican lawmakers in several states have passed such laws.

All together now... all together now!

Medical decisions should be made by doctors, not politicians.

And any bigots trying to “OH! so–” about conversion therapy can go fuck themselves.

Hearty upvote to that, and have a boost too. I invite anyone who disagrees to schedule their next surgery with Ted Cruz and see how far that gets you.

And for my two favorite trolls who chose to spam downvote my comment above:

Big congrats @some_guy and @cre0 - not only have you been outed as racists and idiots who literally downvote the text of the Constitution in my previous comments, you've now tagged yourselves as transphobes as well. Keep digging, it's good for everyone to know who the bigots are.

Politicians should not be issuing blanket bans on healthcare. Politicians are not clinical experts.

The sad thing is I read Georgia and my first thought was the country not the US state.
