They had what, like 150 CSAM reports in two years? I would say more than barely anyone ever saw it. They have a search bot thing protecting their search function now from what I understand. Not allowing people to search for the infringing material.

BUT, my point was, were they not forced to do that when it happened. Like, had no choice kinda thing.

Yeah, reading the wiki it seems they had not much of a choice since Visa and Mastercard no longer supported them. So they had to do something. Which is what prompted them to strip they site’s content. Because of mostly people still uploading GirlsDoPorn shit and other pirated and CSAM crap.

Seems this was all started by a New York Times article that pointed out a lot of terrible content they were hosting.

Seems they also received a lot of death threats around this time from some right-wing, Christian groups. They were going through tons of litigation as well. So a lot of bullshit all at once they had to deal with.

I don’t assume to know what it’s like working at/managing a company during that kind of turmoil. You’re bound to make bad decisions.
