Turkopticon and the Distributed AI Research Institute (DAIR) applaud the Congressional announcement of a letter by Sen. Markey (D-Mass) and Rep. Jayapal (WA-07) which demands that Amazon, Google, OpenAI, and other tech giants answer questions about the working conditions of data workers, especially those involved in training and moderating generative artificial intelligence (AI) systems.

Better and fewer working hours.
Stimulating a massive wave of worker organizing in the United States and beyond.
Organizing and supporting political causes and campaigns that put workers first.
