Gooding and Chong came from musical theatre though.

This is one of the Elle Cordova Technobabble songs being referred to for the uninitiated. It’s pretty funny.

If you watch the entire “The Ready Room” episode on this, you’ll also have Wil Wheaton sing his intro speech for a bit.

triktrek , to Star Trek in Mr Spock belting out showtunes? How Star Trek became a fizzy, frantic romp

This week’s barrage of show tunes kind of makes sense, given that this is a series that, Mr Benn-style, has been trying on a different genre every week.

I think this is one of the reasons SNW is so good.

The pick ’n’ mix approach of Strange New Worlds is a welcome palate cleanser, even if it means any overarching story arcs seem rather secondary.

And that is totally fine and even welcome!

Aka the Picard maneuver

Oh no. Those are the actual actors singing.

Hehe, yeah, I guess, there’s no honor in that. :)

Yeah, I guess.

But also, jealousy can be a difficult emotion to deal with, and La’an already had to deal with a lot this and past season. But then again, she’s a tough one.

Oh yeah, great idea. Kinda like the Simpsons gag or so:

  • If they ever have a mirror episode, the opening credits should be horizontally mirrored
  • If they ever have a time travel episode, the opening credits should go backwards
  • Another cross-over episode? DS9 or some other ship better appear in there! etc.

When I drive and the missus is in the passenger seat and I have to break harder than usual because an idiot in front of me, I sometimes yell “Brace for impact!”

I must confess that I don’t get the reference. Where was this from?

One time the company I worked at, they were expanding life insurance benefits for all employees, and I sent out a meme with Worf and the words “TODAY IS A GOOD DAY TO DIE” on an internal fun forum. It was highly upvoted, lol.

I confess that some of my emails about the project status sent to my manager was just entitled “Status Report”.

Some of the lyrics were really clever and fun:

Spock: “I solved for the Y in my computation … but the variable so devastating: I’m the ex / X”.

At the same time: "When we gain control again, I confess"

  • La’an / Pelia: "I’ll miss the singing"
  • Spock: “I won’t miss singing”
