Unfortunately I think most Lemmy early adopters are highly correlated to people who have their personal finances in order.

If you want you can give me all your funds and create a financial problem for yourself šŸ˜

Maybe, but Iā€™m not sure what would cause that. Maybe thereā€™s a strong correlation between privacy minded people and financial stability? Or maybe lemmy mostly appeals to ā€œolderā€ people (i.e. already established in their careers)?

But surely a community named ā€œpersonal financeā€ would self select for people who are looking for discussion about their own finances.

We could go a few directions with this, such as:

  • personal finance power users - things like churning, early retirement, and tax minimization
  • investing heavy - discuss options on sector indices and other macro level investing strategies
  • personal advice - ā€œIā€™m up to my eyeballs in debt, help fix this!ā€; we havenā€™t gotten any of that yet, but maybe itā€™s because we donā€™t have the trust of the community yet

Iā€™m leaning toward a mix of 1&3, but maybe people are more interested in 1&2. Iā€™m still trying to feel that out, and maybe Iā€™ll post a poll at some point.
