MrWeasel OP , 11 months ago Sorry just seen this reply. Its a lensbaby tilt shift lens (edge) you can alter the focal plane direction and with aperture the width of the focal plane. You can also get very similar effect in photoshop/lightroom. I've been enjoying experimenting with an arty manual lens!

Auk OP , 11 months ago Yes, the fur looks like it would feel somewhat spikey rather than fluffy. I'm guessing it's a combination of the fur drying out in that pattern and the seal having fairly oily fur to help shed water.
