If Israel really wanted to stop the Palestinian threat, they’d just send Mossad to assassinate the radicals in control of the government instead of killing civilians.
There are tens of thousands of estimated Hamas militants in a densely populated urban environment, and it's not like they walk around wearing uniforms or carrying Hamas ID cards. Israel doesn't even know where all of the 200+ hostages are, let alone every member of Hamas. The rich and powerful people who are leading Hamas are probably far from any real danger, and even if you managed to take a few of them out, someone down the totem pole would be perfectly happy to replace them.
The problem Israel has is that there are Palestinians in Israel, period. Mossad can’t do a genocide. No a genocide has to be done during a war of self-defense, openly, but gradually. The Palestinian “threat” must be nurtured and supported to provide cover for the genocide up until the point they are no longer required, then they can be disposed of quickly and efficiently once the genocide is complete.
I wasn’t saying that Mossad should kill all of the Hammas militants. Cut off the head and the body will die. Just keep assassinating Hammas leaders until no one wants the role.
I mean sure, but that assumes that Israel doesn’t want Hamas to exist for now. Hamas is very useful because their existence provides cover for killing 12000 civilians in the last month or so.
