I hate that is was part one, but it was very good.

On one hand I agree with you, and on the other hand it tickles my nostalgia bone for season finale cliffhangers.

I have really liked how SNW has harkened back to the broadcast era. I like only having one episode a week to watch and be able to discuss and be on the same page with everyone, and I like how they have been individual satisfying stories. Because not everything is a cliffhanger, it's made the season finale cliffhanger feel more impactful and exciting.

Oh it does to me also, and it’s a good hate. They better not have us wait years as many shows are making us do for a new season.

Had the show gone into production May 2, 2023 as planned, the wait would have been long but we would have had other Trek content to divert us in the meantime.

With the strike postponing season three production before it began, it may be years in truth.

I’m loving the return to the complete-story-per-episode format also. Discovery and Picard were a mess because they needed to force a cliffhanger into almost every episode. If SNW want to do a big one for a season finale though, that’s fine by me, I trust them to do it properly.
