Has anyone read any of these books? I’m familiar with John Scalzi from Old Man’s War, but I didn’t find it that great. I have been thinking about reading some of his newer stuff such as Redshirts and Starter Villain.

It was a good ending place, but the order of events is different than the books. There is more they can do with the first books plot points, but I’m not really sure how they would do it. As they kind of skipped to the end.
I haven’t read Wool although I do plan on it. Based on the many conversations I read about it I was under the impression that while it made it halfway through the first book they both ended in a similar way. Which would mean there is plot points from the second half of the book left to do despite jumping to the conclusion. I could be wrong on that though.
I was worried the show took a wild deviation from the source material. Sounds like they are basically on track though. That makes me more hopeful about season 2.

I feel like I need to reread the first four murder bot diaries before I continue on. I kind of thought it was a complete thing back when I read them. Then I recently discovered there are a few more.
To be honest I’ve heard more frequently that it was a bit of a let down. However, this is primarily coming from readers of the book and I think they are disappointment that it isn’t a great adaptation. Personally I’ve never read it so without knowing anything about it I think it is alright. Not amazing, but alright.

I’m currently in the middle of Diaspora by Greg Egan which I am enjoying a lot as it is primarily about the technical details on physics and mathematics. I had no idea what the word “Diaspora” meant until I looked it up halfway through the book and realized it was quite the apt name for it.
I also recently finished reading Project Hail Mary for the book of the month which was a much lighter read and went by pretty quick.
I’ve been in the middle of this book for a long time now as I keep picking up other books, but I think it is quite good. I really need to sit down and finish it so I can see how I feel about moving on to the sequels. It looks like the series is pretty long.

I have never read the book for the Foundation trilogy or any of the books in the series. I’ve seen fans of the book be critical of this adaptation for not being faithful to Asimov’s original intent. I am unsure if I am better off having not read it yet and enjoying this TV series in ignorance or if I should have read the...
Do you remember what those prequels were called? I could have sworn there were some prequels written by Asimov himself. Specifically Prelude to Foundation and Forward the Foundation.
You make a good point. With sufficient knowledge of the mathematics they might be capable of exploiting it. It seems like it should be possible to expedite the results you want, but I don’t feel like that should make them a necessity.
spoilerI suspect we will see Demerzel in season 3 taking full advantage of this.
