Very true. That is an important distinction. Regular misogyny this is not. They’re fascists.

PotentiallyAnApricot , to U.S. News in Texas AG threatens to prosecute doctors in emergency abortion

Seriously.

PotentiallyAnApricot , to U.S. News in Texas AG threatens to prosecute doctors in emergency abortion

This is awful. Imagine being this guy, sitting down, taking the time to type this out, and then going through all the steps of making it official. So many chances to stop and think for a minute about what you’re doing and why. Clearer than ever that this is about random men believing they get to be in control of people’s bodies at any cost. The entitlement. Ffs.

PotentiallyAnApricot , to Men's Liberation in Opinion | Why Aren’t More People Getting Married? Ask Women What Dating Is Like.

I’m really glad this article exists, but i wish it went bit further. Nobody of any gender should be pressured to participate in a sexual and romantic and legal entanglement. Conditions for dating are awful and misogyny is way too prevalent, but there is simply no world in which it is normal or fine to say “people need to be married for their own good and the good of their children”. How extremely regressive and gross. Single people are not responsible for the failings of the society they live in. If single people truly do have worse outcomes, then the solution is to change systems of financial oppression and create better social safety nets and offer more services, not tell people that they have to get into long term romantic relationships and create little nuclear families for socioeconomic reasons. We have already seen the outcomes of forcing people to get married and have babies or else. It wasn’t good back then, and it’s not going to help now either.

Anti human behavior.

PotentiallyAnApricot OP , to U.S. News in Uber Eats will start accepting food stamps for grocery delivery in 2024

Wait, which services waive fees?? It would be great if those exist in my area. My location has ebt support via instacart, but the fees are definitely a huge out of pocket expense. EBT does not cover them.

Yep.

PotentiallyAnApricot , to U.S. News in What Is PragerU: Controversial Conservative Platform Entering Classrooms In Florida And Oklahoma

CLASSROOMS? Plural? I was dimly aware of this happening a little bit, but did not realize the extent. Effing yikes, man, just big yikes. At least most of these kids will probably grow up and rebel against obvious propaganda.

PotentiallyAnApricot , to Literature in For John Green, the Battle Over Access to Books Has Gotten Personal

I’m really glad he’s using his voice and platform to talk about this. He’s right, it is a huge escalation and an attempt to control. Usually, if a kid feels a book isn’t for them….they generally just put it back and and stop reading it. I did that dozens of times as a teen. This weird distortion of the concept of appropriateness to prevent young people from being able to see themselves in literature or learn about certain topics is so transparent and it’s scary to see it gaining so much traction.

The slippers are so cute though!

PotentiallyAnApricot , to U.S. News in AAA pulls back from offering insurance in Florida, following Farmers

Weird take.

PotentiallyAnApricot , to U.S. News in AAA pulls back from offering insurance in Florida, following Farmers

This sucks. A similar thing seems to be happening in California because of the wildfires. I heard someone on a podcast recently say that it’s like “the market” is responding to climate change before governments do. Which sucks, because it’s haphazard and profit driven, so the least responsible and least protected people will likely be hit the hardest.

(Edit: don’t see how this has anything to do with desantis or his policies? Am i missing something?)
