Donald Trump is spending most of this week in a Manhattan courtroom facing criminal charges.

Joe Biden is spending much of the week in Pennsylvania, advocating for a tax hike on the rich and for strengthening unions.

Who gets the greater political boost?

These court cases are unfortunately grist to Trump's mill. Thank goodness the trial wasn't televised or he'd have used it as part of his campaign

In the 1960s, CEOs made 20 times the pay of their workers.

Now, they rake in over 300 times.

When people stop believing they have a fair chance to make it, the tacit social contract begins to unravel.

That's how a nation becomes susceptible to demagogues like Donald Trump.

People haven't had a "fair chance" for a long time.Oligarchical and corporate interests have bought control of our political system for decades, all that's happening is they're being shafted to a noticeably greater extent more recently

The prospect of colonising the moon, let alone Mars, seems incredibly distant at the moment, especially with the looming specter of environmental and societal collapse.
I'm 45 now and was saying to somebody just today that the utopian future that science fiction promised when I was a child seems incredibly distant and unlikely
