Why are corporate CEOs cozying up to Trump?

Yes, the tax cuts — but it's not just that.

Biden is reviving anti-trust in a massive way, with lawsuits against Amazon, Apple, Ticketmaster, and many more.

Corporate execs are terrified of their monopolies being broken up.

@rbreich They should be worried about their heads on pikes if their shenanigans go on much longer, but I guess their monopolies being broken up probably seems more realistic to them.

@arstechnica It also needs to be off by default with a group policy option to remove the functionality altogether, especially for any machine dealing with proprietary or personal information. Which, I guess, is probably most of them.

Alternately, I guess I'd be happy with keeping unencrypted data like that (it's encrypted only when the machine is off) if they made the system 100% infiltration-proof. Since that isn't possible, of course, I'm never going to be happy with that feature.

Bring it back!

@georgetakei Dunno what would be stopping anyone, FedEx, UPS, etc. are all right there, often even at the airport. The reason we don't? Because it's expensive and unnecessary.

Noted.

@georgetakei Gather 'round, children, for I have a chilling tale to tell. Long ago, before cell phones were anything more than just a toy for the super rich, there was a technology called "Caller ID" and its advent shook society to it's core. Yet, even that was just a follow-up to the previous culture-shaking event, *69. There was a few years where you couldn't get Caller ID, but you could reach deep into the phone system and force it to reconnect you to whoever just hung up on you.

What would yours be?

@georgetakei A vanilla slice.

Ron DeSantis signed a law that prevents municipalities in Florida from requiring that employers provide shade and water breaks for outdoor workers.

A study found that heat-related deaths in FL shot up by 88% between 2019 and 2022.

Folks, this is the GOP's vision for America.

@rbreich Giving power to people whose religious views include a thirst for the end of the world was definitely a bad idea from the start.
