Tippon , to Photography in From SLR to DSLR. Advice?

Like others have said, I’d recommend a mirrorless camera over a DSLR, especially if you’re taking photos of kids. I’ve recently switched from a Pentax k-x DSLR to a Sony a6000 mirrorless. One of the main reasons I switched was for the burst speed of a mirrorless.

This means that if the kids are running around like lunatics, I can set the burst mode to high, and it takes 11 photos a second, for a bit over two seconds. I’ve got a much higher chance of catching them with their eyes open, or not pulling a face as they’re moving, and so on. With a decent sized memory card you can take thousands of photos, and just delete the ones you don’t like.

The camera is a lot lighter too, and the lenses can be smaller, so they’re easier to carry and to use hand held.

i want to see new characters do new things

Exactly this.

As an example, watching Strange New Worlds is great, but they can’t put certain characters in life threatening situations, because we know that they’ll survive. They’re not going to kill off Kirk before he takes command.

It limits the story in some ways. Give us something new where anything can happen.

Tippon , to Sysadmin in Rustdesk: a open source remote desktop software

Thank you :)

I’ve found that VNC can have some slowdowns, but it seems to be faster than the others I mentioned. I can’t remember why I switched away from it now though.

It sounds like it’s worth giving Rustdesk a try, so that might be my next project :)

Do you know how it compares to NoMachine, Any Desk, or Team Viewer for speed over a LAN connection? I’ve tried all three in the past, and get slowdowns every now and then, even if the network is fine.

Tippon , to KDE in Sync to Samba Share via GUI [ unsolved ]

That’s a shame, it would have made things easier

Tippon , to KDE in Sync to Samba Share via GUI [ unsolved ]

Can you install Syncthing on your NAS? I’ve been using it with my Synology NAS to sync my music from my PC.

I set my PC to be read only for the share, so that nothing else on my network can accidentally overwrite anything.

Tippon , to Home Improvement in Need help understanding my situation about vents and ducts

Spray - possible. My cleaning people come over once every two weeks and clean windows and blinds as well. This vent happens to be right above a window.

The shape of the stain and the spread of the dots look a lot like a spray to me. The large stain is where the centre of the spray hit, the smaller dots are where it misted out / splashed from the centre, and the neat clear line across the middle looks like the front of the acrylic piece protected part of the back / inside because of the angle of the spray. If it’s mounted the same way up as you’re holding it in the photo, it would make sense based on someone spraying upwards towards the top of the window.

As remotelove said, some chemicals can damage plastics, and that’s what I think has happened here.

Tippon , to Star Trek in Canon Connections: Lower Decks 4x04 - Something Borrowed, Something Green

It was the nightclub scene that got me. Something felt off, but I couldn’t put my finger on it, then she did the bad girl pose and her mouth just looked wrong.

Is it just me, or did Tendi’s mouth look off in this episode?

Tippon , to Personal Finance in Do you use a credit card? Why or why not?

Where in Europe, if you don’t mind me asking?

I’m in the UK, and we have to build a credit score if we want to get a mortgage, a loan, or any sort of finance, unless it’s from somewhere predatory like a payday lender.

Tippon , to Personal Finance in Do you use a credit card? Why or why not?

This is exactly what I use mine for, and I’m trying to convince my wife to do the same. We’ve had to buy some relatively expensive things for the house recently, so I’ve been using the credit card for the extra protection, while she’s been paying in cash / debit card.

Luckily, we haven’t had any major problems yet, but she doesn’t seem to understand that the extra protection is worth it.
