@arstechnica My wife was stung in the eyeball when she was a kid in El Salvador. She never went to a doctor - her mom just covered her face in herbs and wrapped it in gauze for about 6 months. She was blind for most of that time before eventually recovering her vision. Finally a few years ago she had surgery to remove the scar on her eyeball. Overall, not an experience I'd recommend to anyone.
