Excellent, very well written opinion piece

cassetti , to Personal Finance in Truck purchases are driving up the average cost of car payments. Some buyers pay over $1,000 a month

Before moving, I specifically chose somewhere that I could commute by bicycle most days - both for work, and to run short errands. My 10 year old vehicle sits parked most days, while I put over 3000 miles a year on my bicycle haha. I'd much rather burn the calories and save money at the same time over having some fancy new vehicle with all sorts of bells and whistles.

cassetti , to Personal Finance in It's Almost Impossible To Find A Decent Used Car Under $20,000

Yep, I have a cheap old Honda with low miles that will last me forever with proper care/maintenance. Because I leave it in the garage and bicycle everywhere I need on a daily basis. My bicycle gets more miles than my honda on an annual basis. Burn calories, stay in shape, save gas money and wear & tear on my vehicle seems like a win-win in my book.

I also specifically found a home within biking distance of everything I need on a daily basis so I rarely need to drive to get where I want to go

cassetti , to Politics in Why I'm Optimistic Trump Will Be Convicted

Because you're not in a cult.

The leader is never wrong. He's an innocent victim of the "eevill democwats" and their perceptual "wich hawnt" against him. So vote for him regardless and set him free. /s

God I felt disgusted typing that haha

It's really sad how rotted their brains have become to the propaganda constantly fed to them through the television.

    Your family raised you right.

I agree with a lot of people who disagree with you and your sentiment. But don't stop.

At the end of the day we're stuck on this planet together. Regardless how much of a d!ck someone is in real life, you don't have to sink to their level.

As much as I dislike Mitch, I have to feel for all of his close family members who must be concerned for his health this evening. I might not care about that turtle, but that doesn't mean I don't feel bad for his family who saw their loved one experience a stroke on live television.

cassetti , to Star Trek in What other shows to watch for fans of Star Trek?

    There it is, Stargate SG-1

Damn that show starts off slow - most people can't get past season one. But holy heck does it have an amazing team writing the plots. I thoroughly enjoyed that show. And it's so underrated. I know I never watched it much when it was on air weekly with new episodes

cassetti , to Home Improvement in What brand of tools is everyone here using?

I bought a really nice gas mower a few years back and figured it would last me a long time. Had it professionally tuned up about a year ago. Couldn't get it started for the life of me (dirty carb as I later discovered).

So I went on the local classifieds and scooped up a used-twice (they gave up and hired a lawn company lol) 40v push mower with the 6-amp battery and charger. Mower still looked brand new. it takes up such little space when folded up - we love it. Sometimes I can't tell if it's running when wearing my ANC earbuds while mowing lol

But I'm so done with small-engine gas powered lawn care equipment. It's dirty, messy, heavy, and unreliable. My electric lawn tools have been so much more reliable and comfortable.

Lol, beat me to it. I often quote the Rules of Acquisition, and I find myself doing it more often lately

cassetti , to Home Improvement in What brand of tools is everyone here using?

My father always insisted on buying me useful tools for holidays so I'd have a large tool chest as I grew up. Back as a young teen my father bought me a ryobi one+ 18v set of power tools (Power drill, flashlight, and circular saw). I've continued to add on to that set for the past 25 years, even upgrading the batteries to nicer lithium battery packs. But I still have those original ryobi tools my father bought me all those years ago.

Now I've recently started expanding my lawn care powertool collection of Ryobi 40v tools - leafblower, chainsaw, trimmer, and now lawn mower. I know Ryobi isn't exactly "pro grade" but they work well enough for my needs

  • cassetti , to RedditMigration in I just found out that not all of my Reddit comments had been deleted despite my profile page showing otherwise.

More simple than that - I'll likely use AutoItScript for windows - literally automate clicking links or simulating keystrokes (like the tab key) until it reaches the desired link then clicking the edit function, revising text, tab to the save button, saving change, and repeat over and over.

It's crude and inefficient, but I have over twenty years experience using the code for various small tasks so I'm sure I'll get the job done.

Just not sure when I want to start - I feel like they are still playing tricks un-deleting content and such for people using automated API code. So for now I've simply blocked reddit at the router level for another month or two before I go back and start writing my code to automate the deletion of 10+ years worth of content.

cassetti , to RedditMigration in I just found out that not all of my Reddit comments had been deleted despite my profile page showing otherwise.

So I'm not a traditional programmer - I don't use a lot of the common software and such. I have a lot of prior experience using AutoItScript automated software so I'll probably use that to mimic keystrokes and clicks on my computer screen once I have programmed exact positions for things - it'll likely be a very specific set of code for my computer.

But I may create an account on github and share if there's enough interest lol
