Humans pretending to be machines isn't exactly a victory for the creative spirit.

@arstechnica that's why so many labor unions joining their lawsuit to reverse these rules

wait, i'm getting a message now... it looks like every plaintiff on this lawsuit is actually a business owner, and no organization representing workers has joined them. weird!

> On his radio show, Rantz expressed surprise that the lottery couldn't keep the site operational after rejiggering the AI's safety settings.

One of the major problems with AI is that the phrase makes people expect it to be able to make human-style judgment calls with computer-like precision and control, and those are very often (if not always) contradictory goals.

@arstechnica Steam vs. Apple App Store isn't really comparable? The App Store is the only way to load applications onto an iOS device; if you don't want to list your game on Steam, though, you can... just sell the binary? You're stuck either saying that Steam doesn't provide additional value (in which case, why are you so set on getting your game on there?) or that it does (in which case, again, it's not really comparable to the App Store, which serves mostly a gatekeeping function).

@arstechnica ""Had the legislation referred to 'a State' rather than 'the State,' there would be no debate about whether sharing was prohibited," the police associations' letter said. "We see no basis to read such a limitation into the legislation based on the word 'the' rather than 'a.'"

"look, if the law were written differently, this would clearly be allowed" is certainly argument you can make
