Jordan, you’re still alive? Oh man…you have got some work to do friend. Do you need any help? You know I hear assisted suicide is still pretty accessible! Hell, I’ll help!

Fucking shithead piece of garbage can make himself useful and go bury himself in a landfill.

People complain that they don’t want a news media controlled by the government, but instead they have a news media controlled by corporate shareholders, where stories like these come out at least once a quarter, either touting the high hiring/low unemployment or bemoaning the opposite scenario, and it is right there at the top of the latest news.

Meanwhile the quality of work/life balance, worker satisfaction, and the happiness of citizens overall are topics left to the side as interest pieces rather than headlines of particular importance.

Why are we not reporting on climate change 24/7? Does it not threaten our very existence? Why are we not reporting on worker dissatisfaction? Are not the majority of us working?

It’s because these topics have no solution that is conducive with capitalism (or at the absolute very least, the current implementation of capitalism, but I’d argue, no, it’s just capitalism). The corporations, businesses, and individuals that have benefitted from capitalism have and will continue to suppress news stories that focus on these very real problems because to actually solve the issue would result in the eradication of their cushy lifestyle and decimate their hold on power.

So fuck stories like these, they mean less than the toilet paper I use to wipe my ass.

Exactly. People consume mindlessly. If you remove their ability to consume a product at all, then they can’t contribute to the shit practices of an ethically bankrupt company unless they emphatically go out of their way and go the inconvenient route to do so.

@z3rOR0ne@lemmy.ml avatar

Pfft. This article isn’t nearly in depth enough on the topic.

How about the fact that minimum wage hasn’t kept up with inflation? How about the fact that social security and medicare will be gutted by the time they reach elder years? If they reach those elder years at all with all the homelessness, famine, drought, war, and genocide that is already here and creeping into even the most affluent parts of society?

When you ask why kids don’t want to work these days, perhaps you’re not asking the right question because the better question is so uncomfortable, you’d rather not ask it?

Cuz the better question is “Why would kids even want to live in this increasingly nightmarish world my and previous generations have all had a hand in creating?”

But hey, don’t worry about it. Just keep your head in the sand, keep removed about shit you don’t want to understand, and count your stock options, capitalism daddy. /s

He’s definitely a douche. And that’s probably too kind of a term (shit stain is more accurate). To put it simply, it wouldn’t surprise me if tomorrow the same allegations being thrown at Russell Brand were thrown at Bill Maher.

And even if they were false, it just goes to show how little I think of his quality as a person that that wouldn’t surprise me in the slightest.

Yeah, strangely enough, while this kind of character development doesn’t make the show worse, it does make it more obvious (at least to me) that her character hasn’t been given the screen time the others have that dives into her backstory.

Plus that episode is a tease because she starts off excited to do something other than fly the ship with an inner monologue and everything.

Had she gone down to the planet and somehow realized by the end of the episode that she loves flying the ship, or the other characters learning that she’s so much more than just a pilot, that would have been satisfactory to me (at least for a season).

I didn’t know that. That’s a fair assessment, and makes sense. I hope she takes good care of herself and takes the time she needs to mourn.

I just want a full on Erica Ortegas back story episode already. But this was a very enjoyable episode. Im not that picky with music in general, and yet also enjoy musicals generally, so I was happy.
