Wow, even u/spez is on the fediverse!

Pratai ,

Hey look! A Redditor has come to shitpost! Must be a slow day in that shithole.

At least we've cleaned our shit off once we got off Reddit?

Unlike you and the rest of the Reddit crowd like you, you're continuing to eat your shit and love it.

AcumenDonor ,

I actually never got round to deleting my Reddit account but I don't miss it. As with Masto/Twitter there are a few things KBin and Lemmy haven't been able to fully replace for me but for like 98%+ of their stuff I don't miss those networks. And if I do want up to check some specific good account that never left Twitter or some reference material that's only posted in some subreddit ... well, we have Nitter and Geddit to gap-fill. In time hopefully they'll not be needed.

Like, I think the Fediverse has got the hardest thing right so far - actually having good vibes and good moderation. Don't think anything else on the internet has been this relaxing and troll-free ... ever - even pre-social media. More features and polish would be nice but given how much better Masto is now than in November '22 I expect KBin/Lemmy will also improve with time.

The fact that you have 126 comments on here tells me that you either have no life at all and live on social media or the protest worked as your using kbin quite often.

So tell me, @mutant, why are you spending so much time here? Did reddit ban you?

spider ,

how does it feel knowing that you looked like feces smearing toddlers to everyone else?

This is what u/spez looks like to many of us.

Hiccup ,

No. Staying on reddit would be lame.

terath ,

A little reality check for you, if you think people leaving a product because they don’t like it means they are a “feces smearing toddler” then perhaps you should take a good long in the mirror and ask yourself when you became the asshole child.

I didn’t go nuclear, but every time I go there, I wonder what reddit offers that actually requires an account. These days the most I do is look at one or two niche communities I follow for anything useful and then leave. I feel no obligation to participate anymore.

batsinlavender ,

Not one. Deleted Facebook in 2020 and Reddit a few months ago. I'm far happier and I spend a lot less time online.

lowdownfool ,
@lowdownfool@kbin.social avatar

No. Maybe the protests didn't work but I'm free from corpo social media now.

ScrollinMyDayAway ,

I deleted my Facebook account years ago, no regrets. Deleted my Reddit account yesterday, no regrets. Not sure what OP’s point is, but comparing people to toddlers when you are incapable of typing a complete sentence does not help you make it.

TheRazorX ,

just curious if anyone regrets going nuclear

Not in the slightest. As far as I'm concerned web 1.0 was far superior to this heavily centralized bullshit anyway.

how does it feel knowing that you looked like feces smearing toddlers to everyone else?

Anyone that perceived me as such, doesn't deserve the content I created in the first place. They're not entitled to my efforts.

I imagine this was a lot of people's first reality check in a long ass time lmfao

It's interesting how you went from gung-ho anti-reddit to this. hmm.

Where do you see the old gung-ho anti-reddit bit? Genuinely curious.

TheRazorX ,

just click on the user's profile name, and you can see what they posted before.

abff08f4813c ,

Thanks, I did that but didn't see anything that seemed to fit. I was wondering if maybe it had since been deleted (to hide this user's anti-reddit origin history, no doubt...)

ryan ,

I don't have any regrets here. I vastly prefer the vibe of the fediverse. I feel like I can actually contribute and have people respond to me meaningfully.

I do think it was a "reality check", as you say, for some people that the exodus wouldn't completely bring reddit to its knees. It'll be a slow decline into irrelevancy that will take a longer amount of time as new mods become overwhelmed and give up, people slowly realize the content creators and commenters have moved on, etc. It could take years.
