e_t_ Admin , 6 months ago C.J. Cherryh's Foreigner series spans 22 volumes (currently). I enjoyed it immensely. While not sci-fi, Patrick O'Brian's Aubrey-Maturin series is great for "on a journey" across the seas of the Napoleonic era.
