I liked Archer, I'd rank him up there with Kirk and Picard. Then again I havent seen the series in a long time, just bought the Blu Rays of it so I guess Ill rewatch it soon and see if I still think this
I think it's a stretch to interpret it as petty when it probably just gave Trip a bit of focus and let his 8 year old nephew shout like "that's my uncle!" or something. Real life astronauts get asked these questions all the time and they're practically deified in our culture.
People seem to have really strong opinions about this show, seeing how every episode discussion is evenly up- and downvoted before anybody have even had a chance to watch or comment 🙄
The downvotes are all coming from accounts on other instances, which as @ValueSubtracted suggested, makes us think it's most likely people browsing "All" and not appreciating seeing twenty discussion posts (not that that justifies it).
Checking off two sci-fi bingo boxes with the classic "airplane race with an alien you just met" and "computer gone rogue" in the same half hour! Quite clever and brave of Zero to take the pointy AI out like that.
By the way, did Gwyn refer to Zero as a he in the log? If true, it wouldn't be the first time a character's pronouns have changed after you met them. Just like real life - I like that.
P.S. Is this the first time in Star Trek we hear a log in voiceover that also includes someone else's voice?
I don’t have an answer to your pronoun question, but hearing somebody else’s voice in the log jumped out at me as well. If it has happened before, it is pretty rare.

I had the chance to keep an ear out for this as I watched, and I think the line is, "I think Zee's safe with us until we do." They've used the nickname a handful of times through the season so far, but it's susceptible to unclear pronounciation.
You know what, I'm out. I'd be down for >!Gary Seven!< or even >!Dark Kes!< but >!Renegade Timelord Wesley Crusher!< is beyond my capacity for suspension of disbelief.
Dude, you’re missing out then. I was dubious going in, but Time Lord Wesley was the absolute delight I didn’t know I needed. Wheaton’s performance was probably leagues better than in TNG.
