Canon-friendly Klingon flags that I can fly publicly?

qaleghqa’neS!

I’m wondering whether there are any canon-friendly Klingon banners or flags that I can fly in public that are not the very, very nazi looking red-white-black one.

I live in Germany and the alternative might even put me into legal trouble based on whether the judge is having a good day or not, and I just don’t want to take any chances or arouse any undue attention from neighbors who don’t know anything about Star Trek.

I know there’s the green-yellow-red emblem that’s much better, but the only full flags that I can see are butt-ugly, non-rectangular green banners from DS9.

There’s also this really cool looking one from Star Trek VI apparently, but I don’t know what the canon implications are or where to get one: Klingon Flag

Any ideas?

So what I think you want is the DS9 era Klingon emblem.

Check out this eBay listing: www.ebay.com/itm/225629480900?mkcid=16&mkevt=…

According to this article this is the banner that was used on the Promenade in DS9. This is a “chair drape” (whatever that is) but maybe you could use it as a flag, convert it to a flag, or have a custom flag made based on this?

Fascinating, I never would have thought a Klingon flag was Nazi.

I mean, it’s a red flag with a white circle in the middle featuring an abstract bold black symbol in the middle. Any German including me sees it as a nazi flag immediately.

Hell if I know how expensive a custom flag is to get printed but this or this both look pretty good. Worry less about canonicity and more about if the aesthetics work for you.

Don’t. Flying a Klingon flag is a recipe disaster. Pretty much any non Trekkie is going to think you are a nazi

This comment speaks the truth

As a fellow german I can confirm that such a flag triggers strong nazi vibes.

That is the entire point of the post. I was not talking about the red-white-black standard one.

By all means, have you read any of the post? That’s the entire point.

Depending on if you could have a print shop make one for you, maybe a white flag with the Klingon-cardasian alliance emblem instead?

Along the same vein, here’s all the cannon emblems according to the wiki

mycatiskai ,

The Cardassians are the literal fascists of the Star Trek universe. Might not be good to associate with the species that is intensely nationalistic while you live in a country that has laws against displaying fascist symbols.

@mycatiskai @startrek I’ve always been uncomfortable with how much Star Wars fandom has embraced the iconography of the Empire.

mycatiskai ,

Was recently at Disney world and in the Star Wars area there was only one small store with only Empire/First Order stuff and dozen or so places with 90% Rebel Alliance.

I don’t think there is much ambiguity in Star wars that the Empire/First Order is the bad guys and have no redeeming qualities

Dunno, that just looks like an off-center misprint of the Japanese flag. :P
