Expand image instead of going to URL?

First, thanks for creating this community!

I liked about old.reddit.com/r/xkcd/ that you can expand the comic, even if the full URL was submitted (not just the image URL). This way, I could either peek the comic but stay where I am, or open the URL and still go to the XKCD site.

Recent example posts which do that:

  • xkcd 2794: Alphabet Notes
  • xkcd 2793: Garden Path Sentence
  • xkcd 2792: Summer Solstice

Here, posted comics look as if an image could be expanded, but it redirects me to XKCD instead.

Not sure how /r/xkcd did this. Any chance we can do a similar thing here?

This post is old, but for what it’s worth, the sync app handles xkcd links exceptionally well.
