So after stumbling across this patently absurd bit of Russian propaganda from noagendasocial.com, I'd thought I'd stroll on over to the instance and see what the fuck is going on over there. After all, it's run by Adam Curry of MTV VJ fame and the so-called podfather, so it's gotta be just one bad apple, right?
Holy fuck, it's like walking into FSB propaganda machine made for Trumptards. That one bad apple is a power user with the top rated post, an anti-LGBTQ+ meme.
@adam what the absolute hell? You used to be cool when I was 8 and watching MTV. Did you lose your morality and ethics when you cut your hair?
@Jerry Yeah I'd think that to some days, I believe it might be because they don't like change. Sure we all have to be sceptical about what the future of the #Fediverse might be but from what I've seen and experienced it could truly be the future of the internet.
@hoodlem As of the moment, other than what Threads has shown yes not to many companies have moved way into the #Fediverse but a lot of News Organizations have seemed to have moved to at least Mastodon with Products, Companies and Even Celebrities moving to Threads. It's why me and many other people think the Fediverse might just explode in popularity (what could be good or bad, we are yet to see how something with so many people could work). Once Mark Zuckerberg opens those flood gates I don't think the Fediverse will be the same, for better or worse.
what I take from this, though, is that even with the anger against Reddit, there’s no talk of leaving in the comments on that post!
you hate the site and all of their changes so much and it’s only been getting worse… why do you stay? even the content is already worse, and even worse on the subs that have the new Reddit tipping system… why stay?
For the last few months our team has been working on an entirely automated AI-powered news site. I am excited to announce that v1.0 is finally being released. This version includes full coverage with every article generated from 2 left leaning, 2 right leaning, and 2 neutral sources. We have also added an anonymous commenting system for people to share their opinions freely. Our servers are now running 24/7 so that new articles appear as they happen! Let me know what you guys think, as well as any comments/concerns/questions you have!
So glad that stupid meme-of-the-week trends are finding their way over here from Reddit, too. I just love reading 50+ instances of the same unfunny joke in a row.
@stopthatgirl7@n3cr0 ok, so it's even cooler then -- we are having a conversation across three different platforms: me on mastodon, you on kbin and @n3cr0 on lemmy. Welcome to the #Fediverse!
When I visit the #mastodon page of a #kbin or #lemmy user/community through a direct link or entering the url (as opposed to navigating to it manually on mastodon), I get taken to the kbin/lemmy instance instead. How can I prevent that?
everyones migrating out of reddit and twitter and it's great. threads is understandably sucking up a lot of those people and has already been doing damage (18 year old girl and mum caught having at home abortion). I have no doubt they will be bad for the fediverse, although i have no clue what they want with us considering they gained 10x the people in the first few days. That even outpaces chatgpt
Taking a break from all the other anti-Reddit anti-Meta posts to note how much better kbin has gotten in just a short amount of time! Love the new layout and we're finally seeing lots of content from everywhere in the verse. Thanks to @ernest for all your hard work.
So I'm definitely missing something with Lemmy...I've tried creating an account on their site, but it's never gone through. I know we get the same stuff on kbin as we do on Lemmy, but I was curious to try both out.
Surely it's not the same account for both, right?
I tried creating my account on Lemmy about a month ago, and it just kept doing the scrolly-wheel of doom and it never appeared to go through. I tried again today to see if it would work now, but, when I try to create the account, it says that it already exists, but trying to log in does nothing.
Just found out that the Mastodon instance that my favorite artist uses (AFAIK*) defederated Kbin/Lemmy instance that I'm currently using. As a result, I think I can't follow this artist. I kinda understand that defederation is important, but... the problem is I don't think the instances I am using did anything wrong. But then again, even the line of what's considered "doing anything wrong" is really subjective, depends on who you asked.
Also, I now understand even more about the drama few days ago about beehaw
*I saw the server list on the Mastodon instance about page, and it listed as "Suspended", I wonder what this means
Ooh, just followed my first lemmy community from Mastodon. Seems I just have to replace the "!" with "@" when I search for them. They seem to show up as a "Group" here. Nice!
