Typical pay for the 100 highest paid CEOs was over $29M last year.

Much of the compensation was tied to stock gains.

Just so happens that corporations spent ~$800 BILLION on stock buybacks, which artificially boost share prices.

Translation: CEOs are goosing their own pay.

Remember: Trump asked oil execs at Mar-a-Lago for $1 billion for his campaign.

In return, Trump pledged to reverse environmental protections and cut their taxes.

The deal would net Big Oil $110 billion in tax breaks — 11,000% more than a $1 billion donation.

Utter corruption.

Remember: If markets were actually competitive, corporations would keep their prices as low as possible as they competed for customers.

Instead, the concentration of the American economy into the hands of a few corporate giants gives them the power to raise prices with impunity.

@rbreich the only way they’re gonna come back down now is if people stop buying the greedflated items. I have. I drive less, I wait until there’s eggs on the shelf that are on sale because no one else is buying them either, etc. historically, I only buy items that are on sale during Covid, stores didn’t even have sales. It’s time to enact the billionaires tax and take back some of the money that they have stolen from us since 2020.

As they hoard more wealth, the ultra-rich will do anything to protect it.

They know Democratic majorities would pass higher taxes, stricter regulations, and enforce anti-monopoly laws.

This is why billionaires are doling out big bucks to Trump’s fascist campaign. Be warned.

The effective federal corporate income tax rate:

1950: 50%
1990: 25%
2020: 13%

Stop asking "but how we will pay for it?" Restore the corporate tax rate.

That is how we will pay for it.

@rbreich I appreciate the moral issue as others have mentioned. I still stand for the Constitution that they should be peaceful and lawful.
