Not according to the advertising on the sites landing page at least, but we'll see what the community ends up like if and when it actually gets built. Mostly just looks like a crazier than normal HOA.
I thought this judge was being recused due the obvious conflict of interest having been appointed by Trump himself. It would be an absolute mockery of the justice system if Cannon didn't eventually step aside from this one.
I am way more productive when I'm not also being constantly interrupted by the people around me all day long. When I sit down to work at home I will go hours without even looking up from my screen. When my attention is interrupted in the office, which happens regularly, it takes me a good 5-7min to focus again. Repeat that same process a couple times an hour and not a lot gets done.
The difference was Reddit had already built up a reasonably comparable audience when Digg imploded so the migration was easy. If you look at a similar graph of Reddit today and Lemmy/Kbin, you probably wouldn't even see these tools register with the active user base of Reddit so high. I think "rhyme" of history is that another service will eventually win, and it might be ours, but it's more akin to the fall of the British Empire than an overnight event.
Their valuation went from 15bil to 5bil and I fully expect it will be halved again before they, if ever, actually IPO. Reddit already wasn't worth what Spez thought it was and this whole situation is just showing investors it's worth even less if the user base can revolt in the way that it has.
We need to quickly move past Reddit. We cannot be consumed by it or we will repel newcomers. This needs to become it's own special place with it's own character. It'll take time. Be patient.
