With currently reviewing the HP Z6 G5 A workstation powered by the new 96-core AMD Ryzen Threadripper PRO 7995WX Zen 4 processor, one of the areas I was curious about was how well HP's tuned Microsoft Windows 11 compares to that of Linux.
Mastodon is interoperable, decentralized, operated by a nonprofit, lively, and, ACTUALLY, isn't hard to use. So why is everyone championing Threads as the main Twitter alternative?
One of the biggest criticisms of Mastodon's technical capabilities involves how limited its search system is. With a new update, everything has changed.

Also, since back when I last looked for youtube alternatives, many that seemed good turned out to use things like NFT and the sort, I feel compelled to ask:...
PeerTube is great, it just needs more content. The only instance with good content is tilvids.com and there isn’t much there other than Linux content. The problem with PeerTube is that there’s no creator funding model, so creators don’t have any incentive to use PeerTube instead of YouTube where they can get paid.
I get it that things can have unfortunate names, but I've seen a lot of people proudly claim lemmy is "federated" or a "federation". Isn't a federation actually against what people want out of the fediverse?...
The “central authority” is not an instance, but the ActivityPub protocol itself. Each instance is federated under ActivityPub, but is otherwise independent with their own platform and rules of interaction.
Most Fediverse software supports image uploads, so there's no reason to use Imgur for image hosting. Hell, even on my small single-user server (atomicpoet.org), image hosting is easy peasy. Not only is Imgur not needed, they're an annoyance for those of us who are used to seeing images natively on the Fediverse....
good to know because honestly after Meta forcing a clone of my Insta account onto Threads (which I'll never use), really considering finally cutting ties with all mainstream social media and deleting my Insta in favor of Pixelfed. and just going total fediverse.
I think kbin and Threads will probably have more interaction than Threads and Lemmy because of the native microblogging support in kbin. That puts them more or less on the same field.
Gonna be honest here: I’m on vacation right now, so this week’s blog post is going to be a bit lazy. I probably missed some things, so if you were expecting to see your work here and di…
