Inkscape is far inferior to illustrator, has stability issues, support for filetypes is limited, copy pasting to other software non existant.

Scribus is just awful dogshit.

Gimp is a graphic software that is hostile to UX, not to mention has stability issues, is slow and in every category inferior to photoshop.

Blender is fucking amazing but 3d graphics is not really the same kind of software as the rest. Different type of users use it that have a very different set of skills and needs. And with all video software.

Beyond all of this, even if we ignore all of that, almost all graphic designers use Adobe, companies use Adobe, if you are sending files back and forth, the files have to be Adobe files either for collaboration or for text amendments...
If you are a freelancer and work for any company, they will want Adobe files from you
(I'm sure there is an exception somewhere).

None of this is threatened. If companies don't care, Adobe will go with it. Nobody will switch. Especially because there isn't really anything to switch to. Not realistically.

NoiseColor ,

Yes, big companies might care, depending on how they see this as a security issue. If they don't, then it's doesn't matter. It's all up to them.

I don't think it would be possible to show original artwork. Highly unlikely.

Spoken like someone who is not a graphic designer and has no idea about it.

Can you offer investment advice? I'm debt-free, about to start earning $2k more per month than I need to survive. Please offer any suggestions for optimal investment method(s).

48 years old, currently have no investments. My net worth is my car and the clothes on my back, and I don’t ever want to be in this situation again....

NoiseColor ,

There is lots of great advice here. I don’t want to cause contraversy, but I would suggest to invest between 10-20% of the investment money into high risk assets such as cryptocurrencies.

I have most of my investments in different funds (tech, medicine), a bit in a savings account (for emergencies) and a bit in crypto. I know there I a lot of hate there, but they have proven that they are here to stay. There is lots of fluctuations that can be hard on the nerves, but in the end, even though this is where I put 20%, it is today worth more than the rest combined.

NoiseColor ,

Come on, It’s not “incredibly misleading”. There is a risk factor with any investment, with life itself. Cryptocurrencies are just a higher risk, some more than other. How much risky is Ethereum is a good question, but I don’t think we have to search for new adjectives and phrases to talk about cryptocurrencies.

I’m not saying anyone will become a millionaire or to buy some crazy assets, I’m saying that its good to diversify investments also by risk, so to invest a small portion of money into potentially more lucrative areas.

NoiseColor ,

It’s gambling if you play it like gambling. If you invest in the more established tokens and leave it as an investment, then ROI is pretty good.

I have no idea what kind of person Nimoy was. He was always spock to me. The other actors I know better. What’s a good docu that shows Nimoy as a person?

NoiseColor ,

For me it takes about 7 years and I can hardly remember anything and can watch it again.
