NuPNuA , to Star Trek in Star Trek: Strange New Worlds to Feature First-Ever Star Trek Musical Episode | SDCC 2023

I’m actually not a huge musical fan, but I do enjoy it when it’s worked into something I already enjoy like Trek, as long as the song writing is good, I’m hyped.

Dan Abbnett managed to pull of a musical issue of his comic Lawless, a gritty space western set in the Judge Dreed-verse, with a recorded soundtrack to listen to while reading and it was dope. I reckon SNW can pull it off.

Fair play, personally I had faith in LD and Prod from their announcement which is why it’s weird not to be hyped for once.

Fair point, I’d forgotten that scene.

So, loads of quippy dialogue and OTT action scenes? That hasn’t sold me on the idea.

I am really struggling to get excited about a Trek entry for the first time in my life with this one.

Ironically, I’ve always thought a S31 show could work if handled like “Tinker, Taylor, Soldier, Spy” in space. However how they handled it in Dis makes me think this will be Mission Impossible in space and that doesn’t sound appealing to me.

Didn’t Quark have an understanding that he didn’t charge federation officers and they didn’t charge him for rent, energy, etc?

I just assumed all meat we see in Trek is lab grown/replicated unless told otherwise.

NuPNuA , to Star Trek in SAG-AFTRA says actors cannot promote projects of companies they are going on strike against. That includes promoting Trek at cons, panels and fan greets.

Makes sense. I feel like Trek fans keeps getting screwed over with Cons lately though. Remember the con where they told the UK Discovery was still on Netflix only to pull it a few days later?

NuPNuA , to Star Trek in Postproduction on Prodigy season two continues!

If this ends up becoming lost media vaulted somewhere in going to be very annoyed.

NuPNuA , to Star Trek in Reddit seems all doom and gloom on the topic but what about Lemmy? And the future of Star Trek?

I’ve managed to find all of SNW, Prodigy and Discovery as Torrents as far as I’m in the UK and refuse to pay for P+ when half the content is still on Netflix and Amazon.

Disney don’t own the Dr Who IP, the BBC still do, Disney just own the worldwide broadcast rights on D+ outside the UK now.

Wouldn’t most Trek ships and tech be ripped apart with the level of weapon tech in the SW universe?

NuPNuA , to Star Trek in Why did Vic Fontaine sang entire songs in the later seasons of DS9?

I mean. I prefered DS9s use of swing and lounge to TNGs obsession with poetry, classical and opera music. Glad we’ve moved past that now and we’re getting stuff like Klingon punk in lower decks

What we used to call a “bottle episode” younger people now call “filler” as they’ve grown up in a world where shows are designed to be binged as a whole in a few days, not slowly eased out over 24 weeks of the year.
