FOCAL ➡️ FORTH ➡️ C ➡️ C++

Too old to learn that snakey stuff.

256 op codes should be enough for anyone.

Relocating from mastodon.online because it's getting a little too cozy with The Establishment, man!

If you define 'car' as a sedan with a gross weight less than 2 tons, the average is more like $30,000.

But the relentless push to convince people they need to drive a higher profit margin SUV has created a market where the expectation that your vehicle should cost more than your annual housing is right up there with deBeers' "three month's salary" engagement rings.

Just rename it Worldlee or Worldly, it's more clever.

"The potential loss of the Akatsuki spacecraft, a relatively small 320 kg probe with a mass a little larger than a consumer dishwasher..."

320 kg = 705 lbs

GE's most expensive dishwasher:
124 lbs (56 kg)

Bosch's most expensive dishwasher: 123 lbs

So, more than 5X heavier than a consumer dishwasher.

FFS.

NASA and Boeing are getting comfortable launching Starliner with a known leak

Fixing the helium leak would likely delay the Starliner crew test flight several months.

@arstechnica
"After some initial troubleshooting, the leak rate grew to approximately 70 psi per minute."

WHAT?

This seems to be deliberate obscurity.
If the /pressure/ drops by 70 psi per minute, how high is the initial pressure?
What is the VOLUME of helium lost?
How much is that of the total amount of helium aboard?

Pepsi replaced its 32oz Gatorade bottle with a 28oz for the same price.

Nabisco shrank the family size box of Wheat Thins by 12%.

General Mills shrank the family size box of Cocoa Puffs by 6%.

Frito-Lay shrank the size of a bag of Doritos by 5%.

Shrinkflation is everywhere.

In other news, the average American still managed to get 15% fatter on the smaller packages.
