Cost of living's too high?

Here's an unbiased source.

People are indeed getting the hell out of certain blue states, NY, CA, and IL, probably cause they're fucking expensive to live in - at least in the big cities where most of the population is.

And FL, TX, ID, SD, and MT are picking up population. ID, ST, and MT are tiny population wise so any change there is a blip, but people seem to really be moving into FL, SC, and TX, for whatever reason.

This data is a couple years old so it wouldn't reflect recent legal and political changes.

Here's the thing though. Changes in total population of a state on this list are all between -1% and +2%. That matters, but it's not like whole towns are being depopulated or anything.

The brain drain issue -- doctors fleeing red states -- sounds like it's considerably more dramatic than that, given that most TX counties have zero gynecologists and a significant fraction have zero doctors.

I mean, if Trump won and abolished all elections and declared himself dictator for life, then West's chances of being elected president as a third party candidate wouldn't actually change one way or the other.

So maybe being a feckless third party candidate in an authoritarian neofascist dictatorship isn't really that different from being a feckless third party candidate in a constitutional democracy.

News: Special counsel received documents from Giuliani team that tried to find fraud after 2020 election | CNN Politics ( edition.cnn.com )

Among the materials turned over to special counsel Jack Smith about supposed fraud in the 2020 election are documents that touch on many of the debunked conspiracies and unfounded claims of widespread voter fraud peddled by former Donald Trump attorney Rudy Giuliani.

Good luck getting Republican support after turning on their strongman leader

Goldwater himself was considered a dangerous right-wing extremist nut by the standards of the 1960s. He was a rabid anti-Communist in the style of the John Birch Society, he was anti-Civil-rights, beloved by the Klan. He lost to LBJ partly cause the Democrats painted him as someone ready to start a nuclear war and the voters bought it. Basically on every issue but religion, today's right-wing nuts would probably love him.

So this is one of those things like git, where you can't explain how it works on the surface to a normal person because it barely even makes sense if you don't know about the underlying plumbing. :\

Not awesome, but I guess that's what you get when you graft a reddit-like experience onto a fediverse that was more or less invented for microblogging.

Welcome to /m/men! ( kbin.social )

I just stepped down as moderator from all five of the subreddits I used to moderate over on Reddit. I just can't ethically justify continued activity on Reddit, and especially free volunteer labour for an openly greedy company that is engaged in scummy behaviour, forcing mods to open protesting communities or be demoted....

You seem to have an extremely specific take on men's issues, insisting you're not one of those men's rights guys but nonetheless taking a dim view of feminism except when you deem it sufficiently egalitarian and uncritical, I dunno about grabbing the whole concept/namespace of "men" and dedicating it to that. But ya did it, so good luck with it.
