By "waiter", I'm sure the writer meant "chipelier".

Stock buybacks don't just line the pockets of CEOs and shareholders — they're dangerous.

Boeing failed to implement a $7B redesign of its 737 Max while spending that much per year on buybacks.

A dollar spent on buybacks is a dollar less spent to upgrade equipment and safety.

VE2UWY ,
@VE2UWY@mastodon.radio avatar

@rbreich

Now come on. You know very well that looters don't do “redesigns" …

You know something has gone terribly wrong when 94% of teachers have to dip into their own pockets to buy school supplies while the average Wall Street employee gets a bonus of $176,500. Hello?

VE2UWY ,
@VE2UWY@mastodon.radio avatar

@rbreich

In Oklahoma, the lege was all pleased with themselves a few years back when they decided that teachers could deduct the cost of classroom supplies from their income at tax time.

So, so generous.

3rd row guy ... I think he was a couple years ahead of me when I was in high school.

Gary or Gordon or something? His dad's name was Mel, I think.

You know, I seem to remember him getting into some sort of fight years later & he got stabbed or something.

A single man, William T. Howell, wrote the 1864 law that the AZ Supreme Court has revived to ban nearly all abortions in the state.

Women didn’t have the right to vote back then, and none had any say in the territory’s laws. But they can vote now. And they will have a big say.

VE2UWY ,
@VE2UWY@mastodon.radio avatar

@rbreich

Serious Q about AZ law: there was, surely, some sort of Congressional “organic act” to allow AZ (& other terrs?) to become states. Did that act require all territorial laws to continue into statehood? Did the new AZ state gov have to pass them all again? How did that work?
