angrystego , to Ask Science in What are the long-term effects of childhood dehydration?

I guess in very severe cases the kidneys and the urinary tract in general could be affected.

angrystego , to Star Trek in Do you agree?

It’s ok that the whole world of Star Trek is not at the same level morally. I also understand writers are just people and they are influenced by the time and place they live in. But I appreciate it when they at least try to continue to elaborate the utopic aspects. I love thinking about what could be better in society and how it would work (and that’s what I like about TNG). Thanks for the analysis of DS9, by the way.

angrystego , to Ask Science in Is zero divisible by zero?

Let’s add “the famous mathematician and philosopher” at least ;)

angrystego , to Ask Science in Does physics ever get vague?

I don’t think current understanding of things is that the universe is infinite. We can estimate the size of the universe we know, because we know how fast it is spreading and for how long. Wiki says: "Some disputed estimates for the total size of the universe, if finite, reach as high as 10 10 10 122 10^{10^{10^{122}}} megaparsecs. We don’t know whether that’s all there is though. We don’t even know whether the universe has the same properties everywhere, which complicates things.

angrystego , to Star Trek in Episode Discussion | Star Trek: Lower Decks | 4x03 "In the Cradle of Vexilon”

Can’t believe we got a Twin Peaks scene in Trek. I didn’t know I needed that but it makes me so happy!

angrystego , to Star Trek in Have watched TOS - Enterprise. Will watching Discovery-SNW increase my enjoyment of Lower Decks?

Discovery is not necessary, but there’s quite a bit of stuff from TNG, Voyager and DS9 in Lower Decks.

angrystego , to Star Trek in Star Trek and The Orville, which is better/worse?

I feel the same about the last season. It seems to me they don’t make enough effort to think their ideas properly through anymore and just preach without applying logic, which is not satisfying to me. For those reasons I now prefer the Lower Decks. LD episodes seem much more creative to me and I like the diversity of character interactions and relationships.

angrystego , to xkcd in xkcd #2821: Path Minimization

I was more like: but if he choses the alternative paths, he doesn’t get the ice cream - that doesn’t make sense! Then I understood our priorities differ.

angrystego , to Star Trek in Rank your favorite Star Trek movies! Be ready to defend your positions!
  1. Voyage Home (the comedy and the whales)
  2. Galaxy Quest (perfect but needs to be 2. because it builds on Trek)
  3. Wrath of Khan (ear bugs)
  4. Star Trek - Kelvin (loved the restart with slight differences - enjoyed every nod and subversion)
angrystego , to aww in This is my cat. There are many like it, but this one is mine.
