Oh! Thank you for the explanation, I appreciate it :)

athos77 , to LinkedinLunatics in Let me just insert some casual antisemitism into your day

... ... I don't get it? The "look back" thing doesn't seem unreasonable, and neither does the "descended from 350 people" - there are other similar bottlenecks throughout history. Hell, 900,000 years ago, humanity's predecessors were reduced to roughly 1,280 people - a situation that lasted for over 100,000 years.

I admit that the "Criminals" comment isn't great, but (a) it doesn't seem related to the rest of the post, and (b) it doesn't seem particularly antisemitic. What am I missing?

Let's be fair, I'm sure he's already bitching about the lack of quality people.

I'm just surprised that there's a restaurant that offers it. I mean, some restaurants do, but they're not usually chains.

Actually, thinking about it, I'm sure he's been looking to cut the vacation days regardless and is just using the minimum wage hike as a convenient excuse.

Leaving this here to display my shame.

Why be ashamed? You had an idea that's probably never occurred to the majority of the people on this planet, and you asked for validation. A) that's original thinking and b) that's the first steps in science: I have an idea, is it reasonable, how can I experiment with it? I think this is a fantastic post!

For a moment I thought it was one of those motion-activated sinks, and I couldn't figure out how he got settled in there without setting it off.

athos77 , to Literature in Your Sci-Fi suggestions

Have you tried CJ Cherryh, particularly the Alliance-Union universe? If you'd like to start with a longer novel, I'd suggest Downbelow Station or perhaps Cyteen (though DS is one of my favorites) if you'd like a faster and less deep introduction, I'd suggest Merchanter's Luck or The Pride of Chanur.

Eh, technically, if the word following 'the' starts with a vowel sound, you're supposed to say tge-with-a-long-e - the apple, the orange, the event, etc.

I've posted them myself and never got anything but upvotes. I say go for it!

That cat looks very happy. I hope the humans enjoy their new year-round tree :)

From a different article, with more details:

Sent harassing and threatening messages to a DC Police detective assigned to the FBI task force that worked on Gossjankowski's case, including antisemitic, homophobic and racist epithets and suggested the officer should be violently sexually assaulted

Instagram posts referring to FBI agents and law enforcement in antisemitic and homophobic terms and called them "animalistic subhumans." The posts also contained the names, email addresses and phone numbers of prosecutors, law enforcement and even court staff involved in the case. At least one post urged Gossjankowski's followers to "inundate" Valentini's inbox with messages.

If I recall correctly, the gag orders specifically allow attacks on the judges and in at least one case I think the head prosecutor (I want to say New York but I could be wrong).
