Don't tell me we “can’t afford” to fight the climate crisis.

A new study found the economic costs of the crisis are 6x larger than previously thought. It's estimated we'll lose 12% of world GDP per degree of warming.

Saving the climate is both morally & financially right.

I wonder what % of the human population we’ll be losing per degree of warming. Surely some of the GDP decrease will be due to worker mortality. Everyone should get familiar with heat index and wet bulb temperature. We need stronger laws to protect people working outside.

No, Trump didn’t ruin us. We ruined ourselves through decades of missteps, eg. Citizens United. Trump is just the opportunistic frosting on the autocracy cake of our own making.

Medicare is negotiating drug prices. Pharma is suing.

The FTC banned noncompetes. Business groups are suing.

Corporate America can't stand government working for the people.

In the last week, Trump has compared himself to Jesus and to Nelson Mandela on account of his perceived, alleged persecution by the legal system. Who’s next, the Dalai Lama? Joan of Arc? The man has zero shame.

Trump is a malignant narcissist. He’d have no power at all were it not for decades of wrong turns the US has taken that, as you yourself pointed have pointed out many times, Dr. Reich, ratcheted more and more wealth away from the middle class and into an increasingly tiny minority. We now have a perfect storm of a huge disaffected mass of people and a deluded individual to lead them. I’m sure Trump has never read ’s The Road to Unfreedom, but he’s enacting it perfectly because it’s the dictator’s handbook: Instill paranoia in the populace and become their savior. It’s a thrilling read for a history book. It explains every dictator in history. I tell all my friends, “Read that book and watch all of ’s YouTube videos about the US economy; then you’ll understand everything that’s going on.”
