Looks like it. The last Spock and T’Pring episode was that fun body-swap one, I think.

(meta) Does anyone whose lemmy account is here notice missing comments/votes/etc on posts from other instances?

I prefer to use this instance as my primary, but I’ve noticed a lot of missing comments/votes/etc on posts from other instances. I’ll switch between this account and one on lemmy.world or Lemm.ee and notice that I’m not seeing all the activity. Does anyone know why?...

freamon ,

I think you’re limited to when the first person on your instance subscribed to a community on another instance - from that point on, all posts/votes/comments will shared with your instance and be visible, but before that, I’m not sure (you might get the post, but not the comments, or you might not get the post at all).

I wanted to comment on a couple of 2-year old posts I found via google - when searching from my instance, I found one post (but no comments), but not the other post. When I added my comment and re-viewed it through google, it was there alongside the 2-year old ones.

If lots of people are signed up to lots of different instances, then a ‘fediverse’ will grow as expected, but if a majority are congregated on a few big ones, it limits the potential for spread.

I’m still trying to understand all this, so I might be wrong.

Who are your favorite Trek reviewers/Youtubers?

I have a few, my fav is Jessie Gender, who gives insightful reviews but doesnt shy away from criticism of Trek. I also like how she looks at things from a gender critical angle, which is something few peoppe think about. Sean Ferrick is another cool one, as are the guys from Trekyards who are more focussed on tech and ships. Who...

I’m not sure that “gender critical” is the right phrase to describe her approach? I associate that more with the gang opposed to her existence.

If you had to buy just one, a tractor or a forklift, for loading your palletised homelab, which would you go for?

freamon ,

Can you post their response here - the link is saying I need to use their app ('cos it’s NSFW), which is exactly the thing I’m trying to avoid.

@startrek Did anyone else read Jammer's Reviews as a kid? Did you know this guy's still pumping out reviews?

I wonder if the producers ever took his feedback seriously, or if he's even on their radar.

Episodes 1&2 got 3*, but he’s given episode 3 only 2*, so he thinks the exact opposite of me. I didn’t like 1 (I would’ve preferred if the doctor and the nurse had found a non-violent solution), was bored by 2 (not a real Trekkie, obviously), and 3 was my favourite.

On the upside, we now have a trans Chief transporter (no hate, just mildly amused by the wordplay).

Didn't actually realise that the subreddits of /r/StarTrek & /r/DaystromInstitute had a community @ https://lemmy.world/c/[email protected] @startrek.

Given Trek fandom are often the first colonizers of online spaces in internet history (eg newsgroups) losing major Star Trek communities is big L for Reddit.

EDIT: Not permamently locked subreddits, got that wrong I think!

freamon ,

From what I can tell, those subreddits participated in the blackout, but neither are “permanently locked”.

Interesting to see though that r/startrek’s header says “now at startrek.site”
