Yes, my name is Karen, but I don’t want to talk to a manager. I’m here for the online conversation since the megalomaniacal bazillionaire turned the bird site into the new Parler. I’m still befuddled by the MAGA mindset in which George Bailey is the elitist snob and Old Man Potter is the working man’s hero. Originally from Philly, I lived in the NYC area for 20+ years and now live in South Jersey near the shore. I love cats, dogs, and animals in general. She/her.

@georgetakei Ha, ha! Typical of MAGAs to not get the point.

But I just have to comment here that it makes me cringe when I hear right-wing, reactionary MAGAs given the awww-shucks benefit of being labeled as “conservative.”

Conservatives say raising the minimum wage would drive up inflation.

But the federal minimum wage hasn't gone up since 2009.

Average CEO pay has gone up about 60% since 2009.

Who's pay is contributing to inflation?

@rbreich Totally agree, BUT (sorry) I disagree with labeling any of these MAGA Republicans as “conservative.”

Republicans don't mind debt forgiveness when it's THEIR debt. Trump declared Chapter 11 bankruptcy 6 times.

MTG was happy to get her $180K PPP loan forgiven.

But when middle-class and poor Americans need help paying for an education, suddenly debt relief is out of the question.

@rbreich Even poor white Republicans identify themselves as being part of the “in-group,” and assume that anything that benefits the wealthy somehow benefits them too. But they’ll immediately characterize anyone in the “out-group” who might catch a break as a lazy, unworthy villain. The person whose student debt might be forgiven is cast as the flaky “lesbian dance major.” Before that, the poor were “welfare queens.”

Two of the Arizona Supreme Court justices who voted to reimpose the state's 1864 abortion law will be up for retention in November.

Sadly, a lot of voters have historically not paid much attention to down-ballot elections.

Something tells me that's about to change.

@rbreich Looking at their names, I think there’s an easy portmanteau-ish tagline to get voters to remember: Stop the BolicKing war on women!
