lolcatnip , to Seattle in "Women are allowed to respond when there is danger in ways other than crying," says the #Seattle bikini barista

She sent a very clear message to the customer that his shitty, entitled, and borderline threatening behavior will not be tolerated. Seems to me like she made the world a slightly better place.

lolcatnip , to Star Trek in Interview: Alex Kurtzman On The Influence Of Fan Feedback And The Legacy Of ‘Star Trek: Discovery’

I think you mean not San Francisco.

lolcatnip , to Seattle in Seattle council president on getting workers back to the office: ‘We have to build those numbers up’

there are far more introverts than extroverts

Citation needed. Badly. I’m an introvert and it’s pretty obvious from where I stand that the world revolves around the needs of extroverts.

Right back at ya, asshole.

lolcatnip , to Ask Science in [Biology] The umbilical cord: is it 'necessary' to sever it, or is it designed to disconnect on its own eventually?

None. I’m asking for information, not advice.

lolcatnip , to Ask Science in [Biology] The umbilical cord: is it 'necessary' to sever it, or is it designed to disconnect on its own eventually?

Thanks that’s very helpful. Especially the part about county fairs—can’t get much more “in the wild” than that!

lolcatnip , to Ask Science in [Biology] The umbilical cord: is it 'necessary' to sever it, or is it designed to disconnect on its own eventually?

The real question to me is what happens with animals in the wild?

lolcatnip , to Texas in The Supreme Court Says No, Greg Abbott Cannot Just Do Whatever He Wants to Keep People Out of Texas

What, so they can be in full on rebellion, shooting federal agents on sight, and it doesn’t count if they don’t declare it? I don’t think so!

lolcatnip , to Seattle in ‘She Had Limited Value’: Cop Caught on Bodycam Joking, Laughing About Woman Killed by Other Officer

Maybe nobody wants to sign on to work alongside corrupt cops.

lolcatnip , to Star Trek in Huge LEGO Star Trek 'Deep Space Nine' Model has Over 75,000 Pieces

I think the Defiant detracts from the model. It needs to be more detailed if it’s gonna be there. Otherwise it looks amazing.

lolcatnip , to Men's Liberation in Free Talk Friday - What does the holiday season mean to you?

Going to visit my parents and hoping my mom doesn’t have to be hospitalized for a mental health crisis again while I’m there.

Source? I tried searching and nothing relevant turned up.

lolcatnip , to Ask Science in Why are we so concerned with oxygen production yet we never hear about nitrogen production, though we actually need 78% nitrogen vs 21% oxygen to survive?

Calling it “inert” is misleading. It’s involved in all kinds of chemical reactions that are essential for life (and lots of non-biological reactions, too). It’s only inert in the sense that most living things can’t use it directly from the air and rely on nitrogen-fixing plants and bacteria to make it into molecules we can use.

lolcatnip , to Ask Science in Why do many microwave ovens hum in an interval of a minor 7th?

A few microwaves don’t do that because they’re able to continuously run the magnetron at less than full power by using an inverter instead of a transformer.
