A way to charge it at home is also a major issue for anybody who lives in an apartment.

But, to make that possible, you basically have to have a "gas station" at home. If you own your own house you can modify it to install a charging spot. If you rent, you might not have that option.

Hopefully it won't be, but charging an electric car is still not a standard thing for apartment buildings to offer tenants. So, for the moment, that's a major reason for renters to not take the plunge.

All EVs come with Level 1 chargers that plug in to your standard house outlet.

Sure, but if you use those it takes a very long time to charge. Like, from empty it can take 40+ hours to charge a battery EV from empty to 80%. If you're using your car to commute and your commute is anywhere near the max range of your car, that isn't a viable option.

What’s interesting are the states you can’t modify too much or it gives away the game.

Texas is a key example, people are pretty familiar with that shape, even many non-Americans will recognize it. Florida and California are also pretty well known. Also, many people have a rough idea of NY State, though you could probably tweak the north and west borders a bit and nobody would notice too much.

The ones it’s easy to fiddle with are the rectangular ones in the mid-west. I think a lot of people only know them starting from another reference point, like “north of Texas” or “east of Nevada”.

A 3 fucking hour interview?

A series of 1 hour interviews with different people is bad enough, but 3 hours?

If someone wants that much of my time, they better pay me.

If money weren’t an issue, I could understand it. You could invite friends and/or family to come over and stay as long as they’d like. If you wanted some time to yourself, they wouldn’t even have to leave, they could just stay in one of the guest-houses for a while.

You could have any kind of special hobby room you wanted. Martial arts dojo? Sure. Home theater? Sure. Laser tag room? Sure. Dance studio? Why not? Kitchen with every kind of tool, multiple ovens, multiple stoves? Of course! Workshop? Why not. Cozy knitting room with every kind of yarn imaginable? Great!

Some kind of good cause you wanted to support? Give them an entire wing of the place. Feel bad for a marginalized group like refugees? Hand over one of the many buildings for their use.

Overall, the world would probably be a better place if no person / family had this much wealth. But, that doesn’t mean that I’d hate to have a place like that if I happened to be insanely wealthy.

What about John Cornyn, Kevin Cramer, Deb Fischer, Cindy Hyde-Smith, James Lankford, Jim Risch, Roger Wicker, and all the other Republicans?

Yes, Manchin voted with them instead of with the Democrats, but ultimately it was almost entirely Republicans who voted to end the child tax credit. I can’t see any reason why he deserves more blame than them.
