@arstechnica I don't know. A number of people involved are probably doing it for the wrong reasons, but it really is a potential huge danger.
My biggest hope here is that this will set the groundwork for a lot of other things. For example, Facebook has long been known to be a major security issue with countless people being manipulated through it and its algorithms even working to help this. The TikTok ban won't fix that, but maybe it could be the first stepping stone.
