I know this so well: "If someone was going to take up this struggle, it would have to be me and I said yes."
Ruined my social standing a few times taking up causes that had to be taken up, but the issues inherent in them had to be dealt with or things would gave gotten much much worse.

It was nasty bad back in 1979 when I unfortunately had to deal with him.
Given his dad succumbed to mental issues at a younger age, I'm not surprised Trump is having them now. I, one who didn't know Ronald Reagan well, could see issues with Reagan's mental decline in the first few years I knew him. That was during his first term.
