Google Maps has had its own chat platform since 2018, but it's shutting down in July.

@arstechnica why did google spend over a decade building so many messaging platforms lmao. No wonder they have no idea what to do with AI, they’re rudderless

@arstechnica At least no one will miss this. Seriously, who wants to tediously chat with a business inside of maps. Just give me the darn phone number and get out of the way. Oh, and while you're at it Google, get rid of Yelp integration. I don't want Yelp's opinion of an auto body shop or some such no sense. 🙄😀

@arstechnica interesting, I apparently have a chat with "Google Play Books Support" on Google Maps for some reason...
