As a potentially historic hurricane season looms, can AI forecast models help?

New model that predicts global weather can run on a single desktop computer.

@arstechnica Current hurricane forecasts provide residents with sufficient warning to prepare or evacuate. The issue is people making bad decisions.

AI forecasts may or may not be more accurate. Until they are proven to be more accurate, their forecasts should not be made public. But, of course, the web will be full of alleged AI hurricane forecasts between now and the end of November.

@arstechnica Yep, would definitely like to see comparison between AI weather forecasts and those based on traditional mathematical models.
