The more Trump can tear down democracy, the safer the oligarchy becomes.

This is why the billionaires who once disavowed him are quietly crawling back.

The ultra-rich will do anything to protect their wealth and power.

That includes destroying democracy itself.

@rbreich

I got called hysterical and over-reacting when I said this kid of stuff over on the dead bird site.

I guess if you're saying these things, they're baked into the cake now.

When he gets his candy hands around the neck of this nation in November again, those millionaires and billionaires are only as safe as their last extortion payment to King Trump.

The second they hesitate, he tosses them in with the rest of us not dead yet and takes all their shiny shit.

@rbreich As the Secretary of Labor during the Clinton administration, you balanced the budget, and eliminated US deficit as an engine to economic growth. That economic initiative paved the way for the Great Recession. Do you even know how demand price economy works. I wasn't aroud to advise you then. But I've since explained it. Are you on board now, Bob?

@rbreich "People of privilege will always risk their complete destruction rather than surrender any material part of their advantage. Intellectual myopia, often called stupidity, is no doubt a reason. But the privileged also feel that their privileges, however egregious they may seem to others, are a solemn, basic, God-given right. The sensitivity of the poor to injustice is a trivial thing compared with that of the rich. " John Kenneth Galbraith

Hitler came to power in the same way: he convinced some major German industrialists (some of whom are still active today: BMW, ThyssenKrupp, Oetker) to fill his party's campaign coffers, with the prospect of no more elections for the next few years, or even 100 years.

@rbreich Oligarchs support republican policies (because they write them). They All knew him prior to 2016 and publicly refused to support his campaign until the GOP nominated him.

Every one of them would gladly kick him into a volcano. He's exposed them in ways they thought would never happen.

@rbreich so why not destroy the power structure that keeps putting us in this mess.
