Thanks very much, I can’t believe I didn’t think of this - I think I was just so frazzled by the alarms blaring my brain couldn’t think properly. I’ll be lifting up the floor for a look tomorrow!
Hey just so you know - those combination key locks take mere seconds to brute force. I’d recommend not using it if you have anything of value - even tools - inside.
This interaction reminds me of an Always Sunny episode. The gang are mad because their favourite movie franchise sold out and got bad, so the whole episode is about them complaining with the movie execs about how the changes made to the movie (to attract different audiences in order to try to make the franchise profitable again) all suck, and what they should be doing differently. But the punchline of the episode is they have all along been streaming the movie series and not paying to watch it, so they are part of the problem.
Never expected to see it played out IRL though, and the fact you’re being downvoted makes it all a bit less funny…
E: and now me :D maybe the dissenters would like to enlighten us as to how piracy doesn’t affect capitalism?
If there is pee, there will also be poo. Have a gander and see if you see any droppings. They’re like little black pellets the shape of zeppelins (if you’ve ever had a hamster or gerbil, they’re similar), if you can’t find any I’d be very dubious about mice. In my experience from having them, you hear them scuttling at night. If you’re worried, you can get humane traps for pretty cheap - definitely cheaper than an exterminator.
So where I am we don’t use blown insulation like this, so please take this with a pinch of salt, but…
I redid 50m^2 of roof insulation in my house to exceed the insulation standards in my area and the cost of all the (very high spec) insulation sheets and materials was just over £3000. I don’t know about loose insulation that gets blown like in your picture, but I just wanted to contextualise why I thought the price seemed high.
If it was me, I’d set up a couple of cameras and mouse traps to see if you get anything. If not, add that company to your big book of Bullshit and chalk this down to a good lesson learned. Owning a home can be stressful and expensive enough without scamming dingbats making things more difficult.
If you do end up with mice in the traps, it would be worth getting a quote from another company, juuuust in case.
My partner and I have just binged TOS-Enterprise last year and we are starting Discovery today. I was just wondering if we can also start LD or will there still be jokes from Discovery (and the later shows) that we might miss out on? I have really bad FOMO anxiety and am worried there will be references in LD that we will miss...
SNW has a Lower Decks crossover episode, which is hilarious. Imo, SNW is essentially the only good characters taken from Discovery (which is fucking awful) and put in a far superior Trek. It’s got the same “doesn’t take itself too seriously while still addressing serious things” as some of the light-hearted Voyager/DS9 episodes.
Has anyone bought an all metal garden shed off Amazon or box store? Do they hold up well at all? Most of the ones I’ve seen in person are from the 90s and covered in blackberry bushes.
I have a wee small one, it does the job well enough for my needs! It doesn’t feel as premium as a shed but as a safe place to chuck the lawnmower/strimmer, it’s grand.
One thing to note though if it’s floored, be mindful of ventilation since the metal doesn’t breathe like wood does.
I’m making my way through DS9 for the first time (almost finished with season two). For reference, I’ve seen TOG, TNG, all the new movies, Discovery, Lower Decks, and SNW. DS9 season one was a little slow to pick up, but my husband and I are loving season two. As always, Star Trek addresses a lot of hard hitting issues in...

Honestly I am so bloody baffled by this....

Hello, I just moved into this house and it’s a pretty major work in progress. One thing that’s perplexed me though is the front door....
Gaps in floating floor ( lemmy.world )
I DIY’ed the floor in my bedroom but I’ve got gaps like the one pictured in a few spots. What’s the best way to close these up?
What would you rate Discovery from 1 to 10 and why (please explain your score)? 1 being the worst score and 10 being the best score

Called Bugout for a bug inpection, and the guy said i have mice in my attic. Told me this is a mouse pee stain. Is that right? ( programming.dev )
Have watched TOS - Enterprise. Will watching Discovery-SNW increase my enjoyment of Lower Decks?

As much as I appreciate all that (vintage) Star Trek was trying to do, handling of a lot of women's issues were problematic or nonexistent.
