@arstechnica Not even "PC emulators." DOS emulators! Not exactly a big competitor. Or a competitor at all...
This is a good reminder of why a wildly proprietary gated device and library was never ok. Eventually they'll change their minds and come around after all the flak and when the higher ups realize that emulating a DOS system isn't exactly going to send people flooding to the competition or cause rampant piracy or whatever, but it doesn't change that this happens in the first place.
@arstechnica at this point I really don't understand why anyone who wants to use anything outside of Apple services is even buying an iPhone.
If you're happy with what Apple provides then fine but if you want to use any service/app not made by Apple then buy an Android because an iPhone doesn't meet your needs.
Apple are a problem but so are the people who keep supporting their anti-consumer behavior by buying their products
@arstechnica it's utterly baffling to me that people are willing to pay upwards of a thousand dollars for a pocket computer that is only able to run applications from a walled garden.
Then again, smartphones have replaced wristwatches as both a timepiece and a fashion accessory.
