I think people should consider an EV when it comes time for them to buy a new car.

JackbyDev ,

PLEASE one downvoter, explain to me how such a statement deserves a downvote?

Down voting because this sort of complaint is cringe. Wear down votes with pride and don't comment on them.

JackbyDev ,

New-to-them I mean, but yes, I agree. New cars depreciate stupidly quick.

Could’ve sworn I saw a remote role posted for Grindr lol, maybe it was a month ago though.

How can I keep dust out of an unfinished basement? Or at least off of a specific area and table?

I have an unfinished basement. It would be a great place for a workshop but some hobbies don’t do well in a dusty environment. Would setting up an air purifier help? Even then I’m concerned it wouldn’t get the entire volume of air....

JackbyDev OP ,

Yes, I do have bare concrete walls and floor. That’s crazy, I never would’ve thought they “shed” dust or anything.

For a haunted house a few years ago we put painters tarp on the unfinished walls so they’re somewhat partitioned, but not air tight or anything (or I guess “dust tight”) but depending on how it works I could easily seal off one of the rooms since it is already pretty sealed. Would I need to cover the floor and walls as well?

Thanks for the advice!

Put together a DIY air quality monitor! ( beehaw.org )

With how bad air quality has been this year, I grabbed myself a DIY AirGradient kit so I can monitor air quality in my living space. It was easy to assemble and only required a little bit of soldering knowledge. I’m definitely not proficient enough at soldering as many components ended up crooked on the board. Still works...

I’ve been curious about getting a CO2 monitor after I heard that excess CO2 in rooms cause your brain to get dumber. I can’t think of what to call it, maybe the CO2 talking.

(And just to be clear, I’m talking about CO2, not CO, we have a CO alarm.)

Ramsey told folks to keep making payments on student loans when the payments and interest were paused. He does not give sound financial advice.

JackbyDev ,

They’re not moving the goal posts from good debt to own vs rent, the reason a mortgage is good debt to have is because it is better than renting. Consider taking out a loan for something that has zero benefit, like a statue or yourself or something stupid. That’s bad debt because it provides no benefit. Being in a home builds equity. Your putting your money into a 30 year hole very slowly but it’s better than a bottomless pit.

JackbyDev ,

The report, which was published by researchers at the Becker Friedman Institute for Economics at the University of Chicago, found that borrowers who paused their debt payments “sharply increased mortgage, auto and credit card borrowing,” compared to those who continued paying their loans.

Wow, so two of those children were kidnapped specifically because of the demand generated by the sting and then they got dumped out a week later from the shelter presumably back onto the streets.

What is the best way to get books/things to read for free/cheap?

JackbyDev ,

Yes, sign up for a library. You can get digital books even if you can’t physically go.

Not really a total scam depending on your perspective but lawn additives. I’m not sure what the term is. Basically when they come out fertilizer out. I say not totally because some people really do want a super green, super short, and (in my opinion) super ugly lawn. I replaced my front lawn with clover and the bees love it. It was green literally until Christmas last year (2022) when we had the big frost (southeast US). Like, okay, it’s a little less green or whatever, but wow it was green that late in the season and everyone else’s was brown.
