@kde Any clue why the right click menu opens as a stand alone window the first time I right click on the desktop after not right clicking for a while? It opens correctly by the mouse every time after that but will open as a stand alone the next time there is some time between right clicking.
When you @ to [email protected] in your post it will post it in this community. It seems communities are also accounts on the fediverse, kinda nifty really.
Not on this device but I have on a PinePhone before, works just fine.
Ideally it would use the desktop shell on the external monitor though, that sadly doesn't happen yet (but is planned for the future).
What’s the relationship between plasma-desktop, plasma-mobile, and plasma-bigscreen? Are they the same thing but with some different configs/patches/etc or are they three seperate but heavily interconnected projects?
David, Nate, Josh, Marco, Carl, and Niccolò are here ready to answer all your questions on Plasma (all versions), Gear, Frameworks, Wayland (and how it affects KDE’s software), and everything in between....
I have some very, very, very, very WIP KDE widgets for Dart/Flutter in a project running. Currently it has almost nothing but it already automatically switches color theme when you switch color schemes in KDE for example 😄
Don’t expect too much of that though, it’s very unofficial and something I’m doing whenever I feel like it.
Yeah it’as weird. Afaik the apps are part of the KDE but the shell is not. No clue why, I’d remove Maui entirely from KDE tbh…
Index is, as you mentioned, really the only option on Plasma Mobile for managing your files, but Pix and Vvave can be replaced with Koko and Elise respectively. We should probably make work of that.
Would it make sense to consider asking Tokodon to support connecting with Lemmy servers, or is there too big a difference between the APIs, requiring a separate application?
You can yes, but you have to decide to either be stuck with Mastodon UX or Lemmy UX. They’re both different and I like to switch UX whenever I please, and currently I need 2 accounts to do so.
In my case I don’t have a choice in the matter, I need to use a Macbook for work so I can run Xcode for iOS apps. I will however have full control over the machine so am going to run Linux on it and only boot macOS when absolutely necessary.
Currently KDE uses Gitlab at invent.kde.org. Gitlab has been known to not be entirely open. I wonder if KDE has considered moving over to Gitea/Forgejo/Codeberg instead? And if not, how come?
Afaik Gitlab has a CLI tool (maybe unoffcial, idk) that allows you to create MR’s from the commandline. I don’t believe you have to use the web interface.
Want to know how #Plasma6 is coming along? Check out Nate's in-depth analysis on what's done, what devs are working on right now, and what's coming to KDE's next generation desktop environment:
That just goes to show that we really need to get rid of the Google dependency in our life. F-Droid, Plasma Mobile, all great solutions that really need more mainstream use.
I applied github.com/LemmyNet/lemmy-ansible/pull/114 to lemmy.kde.social, this should fix some federation bug and I can now follow this community with my Mastodon account by searching for @kde
Oh, how weird lol. The Lemmy UX definitely doesn’t fit on Mastodon, now this “community account” as it appears on Mastodon just boosts every post made in the community, without context to the exact post it seems.
It is nice to be able to boost or favorite individual comments though!

Does this community not support languages on posts or am I doing something wrong?
Every time I try to create a new post in this community I notice that the post is never created, it keeps on loading forever....
Does plasma desktop support .webp images as wallpaper?
I use Endeavour OS (Arch based btw) and I’ve noticed that when I select to choose a new image as my wallpaper, it doesn’t support the .webp format....
Will plasma big screen work with KDE connect?
I want to use my phone as a remote like I do for kodi but I’m not sure if its compatible

Is it possible to remove text shadow on file labels on the desktop?
Hello! Is it possible to remove this text shadow?...
